Which Royal Family Members Are Attending Trooping the Colour?
Many members of the Royal Family are expected to be in attendance, including Prince Edward, Charles’ youngest brother and now the Duke of Edinburgh. Charles’ younger sister, Princess Anne, is expected to be there as well. Both of them will be joined by their respective spouses.
As mentioned earlier, Prince William and Princess Kate will join Charles to wave to onlookers from the Royal Balcony. Last year’s Trooping the Colour parade marked Middleton’s first official public appearance following her cancer diagnosis.
Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Attending Trooping the Colour?
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are not expected to take part in this year’s event. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have stepped back from royal duties since leaving the UK and moving to America in 2020, and Harry has not been seen with the Royal Family since he reportedly visited Charles in the hospital during a health scare last year.
While Harry attended his father’s coronation, tensions between the two were heightened ever since Harry released his memoir, Spare, in 2023, with the king reportedly unhappy with many of the revelations in the book.
The Prince, meantime, has suggested that his family’s unwillingness to defend him and Markle against Britain’s notorious tabloid media system is a “central piece” to the alleged rift that’s formed between them.
Trooping the Colour 2025 Schedule, What to Expect
More than one thousand British officers and soldiers are expected to march in the Trooping the Colour parade, along with hundreds of horses, notable guests and musicians. After making their way through London, King Charles will then join other members of the Royal Family to greet the crowd from the iconic balcony at Buckingham Palace.
Trooping the Colour was first performed in the mid-17th century during the reign of King Charles II. King Charles III’s birthday is actually in November, but tradition dictates that the annual Trooping the Colour celebration takes place in summer so that it can be held when the weather in London is better.
