“A buddy of mine was in Vegas for business, and I was in town for a press junket. We were both in our mid-20s at the time. I drove into Vegas with my stepdad as he likes to gamble. We got into town, and I met up with my buddy. From around 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., it was nonstop drinking on my part because at the press junkets, there was free booze. My buddy and I eventually met up with my stepdad and hit some tables. I won about $1200 on roulette. My buddy and I then split to hit some industry parties. But before, I took some of the $1200 I won for spending and stashed the rest in my buddy’s hotel room.”
“We hit the parties, and then there was an after-after party at one of the local strip clubs. By this time, the free booze was done, so I was paying for drinks. I ended up getting several lap dances from one dancer. She said, ‘That’ll be 300 bucks.’ I reached into my pocket and had no cash left, and no credit card or debit card. I explained this to her. She was quiet for a minute and said, ‘I really should tell the manager, but I am going to let you go.’ I told her I was getting her money to her somehow.
So, I hailed a cab and told him to go to my buddy’s hotel. We got there, and I explained I had no money on me but would be right back because I had money in the hotel room. By this time, it was like 5 or 6 a.m. I pounded on the door, and my buddy woke up and let me in. I grabbed the 800 bucks, paid the cab driver, and told him to take me back to the strip club. We got there, and I went in and found the dancer from earlier.
She could not believe I came back. She was super excited to get her money and said, ‘Let me buy you a drink. ‘ When we got our drinks, we sat down and chatted. She said, ‘Do you want something that will make you feel really good?’ I was like, ‘Sure!’ That is the last thing I remember.
I woke up in the ER. Paramedics found me passed out in the lobby of the Monte Carlo hotel. Mind you, my stepdad had no idea where I was. He called my mom, my mom called my buddy, and he told her he had no idea where I was. They ended up having to call the local hospitals to find me.
By this time, I had blood all over me because I was yanking the IVs out of me. They finally discharged me and sent me on my way. It was the quietest ride home from Vegas ever.”
