On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, jurors reached a verdict in the Karen Read murder trial: not guilty. While the second-degree murder trial ended with an acquittal, Read was found guilty on the lesser charge of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

She claims to have been framed for the murder, and on June 18, following her heavily televised retrial, she was acquitted of the second-degree murder charge.
