Which is why she and several other members of the team told the multibillion-dollar organziation that they had some hesitation signing their contracts for the 2024-2025 season.
“Yes, we should still do something outside of just cheering,” she acknowledged on the Netflix series, “but there’s so many ways to make this something people can actually live off of. Because for us all to be struggling financially, I’m kind of over it.”
Teaming up with Megan McElaney, Amanda Howard and other vets, the dancers discussed the possibility of staging a walkout if their demands weren’t heard.
And now that their compensation has reached the same lofty heights as their kicks, yes, ma’am, they’re thrilled.
“We pushed and we got back good results,” fifth-year dancer Armani Latimer said on the series. “I get emotional knowing that I was a part of that. I love the fact that I made change for the girls that are coming up behind me, even if I’m not getting a chance to benefit.”
