Alicia Silverstone plays a bitter Los Angeles divorce lawyer who goes to Ireland to find her estranged father, only to discover shady business dealings and foul play, in the trailer for the Acorn TV crime drama Irish Blood, which dropped Tuesday.

It also doesn’t help that Silverstone as Fiona Sharpe doesn’t trust anyone after receiving a cryptic message from Declan, her father, played by Jason O’Mara, that sends her on a quest to learn about her father’s dark past. That’s after years of Fiona channeling her anger toward her father for the benefit of her litigious clients back in L.A. but doing little to resolve her daddy issues.

But once in Ireland, Fiona realizes that the story of her and her mother being abandoned on her 10th birthday was all along a protective lie.

“He was up to his neck in debt to some dangerous men,” Fiona is told at one point in the trailer, where she is also seen teaming up with a local cop to follow clues about possible foul play. Ultimately, Fiona pledges to reconnect with the parent she only thought she knew.

Silverstone also executive produces the crime drama, set to bow Aug. 11 on Acorn TV in the U.S. and Canada. Irish Blood also stars Wendy Crewson, Dearbhla Molloy, Simone Kirby, Ruth Codd and Leonardo Taiwo.

The series is also executive produced by Christina Jennings, Scott Garvie, Paul Donovan, Ailish McElmeel, Aaron Martin, Christina Ray and Molly McGlynn, who also directs. Irish Blood is produced by Shaftesbury and Deadpan Pictures, in association with AMC Studios.
