Bengaluru headquartered sustainable packaging material startup Bambrew has raised Rs 90 crore ($10.3 million approx.) from Ashok Goel, former Managing Director of Essel Propack; along with Japanese venture capital firm Enrission India Capital.

Bambrew said it will use this capital towards R&D, expansion of its manufacturing capacity, and diversification of product product as it looks to enter markets of Middle East and North America.

Founded in 2019 by Vaibhav Anant, the startup produces alternatives to single-use plastics using bamboo fiber, agro-waste, seaweed, recycled paper, and other natural resources. Bambrew is targeting a revenue of Rs 120 crore and achieve profitability within the next 12 months. Besides, it is looking to serve the segments like quick commerce and personal care.

“The packaging industry is at a crossroads, and there’s an urgent need for solutions that go beyond surface-level sustainability. With this capital, we’re investing in the science, infrastructure, and scale required to replace plastic meaningfully, not just in India, but globally,” said Vaibhav Anant, CEO, Bambrew.

Over the past year, Bambrew has expanded its product portfolio from garment bags and mailer bags to sustainable mango box packaging, and customer base across key sectors including FMCG, ecommerce, personal care, and food and beverages.

Investor Ashok Goel said, “What stands out about Bambrew is its material-first approach which is deeply focused on functionality, compliance, and sustainability. Their innovations are timely and globally relevant.”

Bambrew is also planning to introduce its direct-to-consumer (D2C) range which will allow it to expand from B2B focused manufacturer to consumer facing brand.

Bambrew co-founder Kunal Prasad said, “The next 12 months will be crucial for us, as we strengthen operations, introduce new product lines, and bring our mission closer to everyday consumers.”
