Inside Edition has found its new anchor.
The long-running syndicated CBS newsmagazine has tapped Eva Pilgrim to lead the show. Pilgrim succeeds Deborah Norville, who announced her exit from the program back in April after 30 years.
Pilgrim joins Inside Edition from ABC News, where she was one of the co-anchors of GMA3, the early afternoon spinoff of Good Morning America.
Inside Edition is distributed by CBS Media Ventures and based in New York City, and is known for its mix of entertainment, true crime, lifestyle and tabloid news segments, delivered at a quick pace. The show debuted in 1989 with a more hard-nosed approach (its original anchor was David Frost, of the Frost-Nixon interviews), though it leaned more into tabloid fare under anchor Bill O’Reilly. The format was refined under Norville.
Charles Lachman, the show’s executive producer, has been with the program since it launched.
“We feel like we won the jackpot to have Eva join our team as the next anchor of Inside Edition,” Lachman said in a statement. “She has solid news chops from her years as a reporter and anchor in national and local news, plus a warm relatability that resonates with audiences. We look forward to having a journalist of her caliber take Inside Edition into its next chapter.”
“Anchoring Inside Edition is truly a dream job,” Pilgrim added. “I have been an avid viewer and fan of the show for many years. I’m pinching myself that I get to work with this amazing team. It’s truly an honor to join a show with such a long, rich history.”
Pilgrim had been with ABC News since 2016, working as both a correspondent and anchor. Before that she worked at a number of local TV stations across the country.
Pilgrim’s exit from ABC News for CBS is also sure to raise questions about the future of GMA3. Pilgrim and co-anchor DeMarco Morgan joined the program in 2023 after ABC parted ways with its former hosts T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach. Dr. Jen Ashton, who had co-hosted the show since 2020, left in 2024 to launch a health and wellness brand.
In March, ABC News president Almin Karamehmedovic announced a restructuring of the news division, which included bringing GMA3 under the purview of GMA producer Simone Swink. Karamehmedovic reassured staff that GMA3 was there to stay, although Pilgrim’s exit likely means that it will continue with new on-air talent.
