Amazon India bets big on Prime Day 2025 with exclusive launches, extended hours

Amazon India is all set to host its largest Prime Day event to date, with more deals, more product launches, and extended shopping time. For the first time ever, Prime Day will run for three days, from July 12 to July 14, offering Prime members 72 hours of exclusive discounts, new product launches, and access to blockbuster entertainment.

“This is our first Prime Day that we are doing for three days,” said Saurabh Srivastava, Vice President – Categories at Amazon India.

“There was a lot of feedback from customers and sellers that they need more time. Sometimes people miss out because it’s a short event, and sellers also wanted more time to present their products and leverage visibility. So we’ve made it longer,” he added.

    New product launches, and two-wheelers

Prime Day 2025 will feature more than 400 new product launches across categories like smartphones, electronics, fashion, beauty, home appliances, and more. Many of these launches are exclusive to Prime members and will debut during the event.

“It’s become an event where brands and sellers look to launch completely new products,” Srivastava said.

Customers can also explore and book bikes and scooters from brands like Hero Vida, Ather, Ampere, and Chetak on Amazon, with final handovers at local dealerships.

“Vehicles have become one of our fastest-growing categories,” Srivastava noted. “These are high-ticket items—Rs 1–2 lakh typically—and the speed at which the category is growing has surprised us. It’s not just a discovery platform; customers get better deals on Amazon than walking into a showroom.”

“From Bajaj Chetak electric scooter and Triumph 400 to the latest QLED TVs, premium phones from OnePlus and Samsung, and even fashion drops from brands like CaratLane, Titan, and Puma—we expect customers to find exciting, never-seen-before prices,” he added.

Quick commerce wont eat Prime’s lunch

As India’s ecommerce landscape evolves with faster delivery, Amazon is not worried about competition from quick commerce players. Instead, the company is betting on breadth of selection and its deep logistics network.

“Quick commerce is growing fast, and we’re present in that space too,” Srivastava acknowledged. “But our scale is unmatched—we offer 10 lakh products for same-day delivery, 40 lakh for next day, and 20,000 items within four hours. And this is across every PIN code in India.”

He added, “This breadth is incomparable. Prime is like a buffet—it’s not just fast delivery. It includes shopping, savings, entertainment, gaming, reading—so much value that as Jeff Bezos says, ‘it’s irresponsible to not be a Prime member.”

Prime Day is also a content and engagement event. Amazon Prime Video is rolling out 17 Indian and international shows and movies, including Panchayat Season 4, The Traitors hosted by Karan Johar, and global premieres like Heads of State starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and John Cena.

There’s also new Amazon Music Prime membership tiers tailored to Indian consumers—from the full-access Rs 1,499 plan to more affordable Rs 799 and Rs 399 editions.

According to Srivastava, “Brands are already planning for next year’s Prime Day. For them, it’s a launchpad that builds momentum into the Diwali season. They want to dazzle customers who are loyal to Amazon and ready to discover and buy.”
