‘Jurassic Park’ Movies Soundtracks’ Billboard Chart History

On Billboard’s charts, music from Jurassic Park and its sequels has, uh, found a way.

Dinosaurs are dominating the box office once again, with the seventh installment of the franchise, Jurassic World Rebirth, stomping in with $318.3 million globally in its first five days, including $147.3 million in North America, following its July 2 premiere. The film boasts the largest worldwide launch of 2025.

With the series continuing to prove that it may never go extinct, we’ve done some digging, reflecting on its history on Billboard’s rankings.

The soundtrack to the initial edition, Jurassic Park, debuted (at No. 200) on the Billboard 200 dated June 12, 1993 — a day after the movie’s wide release. It hit a No. 36 peak that July.

Driving its popularity (in a Jeep?), John Williams’ “Theme From Jurassic Park” went on to hit No. 1 on the Classical Digital Song Sales chart for four weeks in 2015, following the franchise’s reboot with its fourth film, Jurassic World. As Williams’ recording reached No. 1, the composition was also at No. 2, thanks to the Piano Guys’ cover. The same week, the latter version hit No. 1 on New Age Digital Song Sales. (Fans spared no expense.)

In the July 10, 1993-dated issue, Billboard praised Williams’ instrumental. “Will dinosaur mania extend into the music arena?” the review read. “Sophisticated minds that normally indulge in the quasi-classic nature of film scores will melt with the warmth and sweeping potency of this theme to one of the biggest films of the summer. Though not an airwave-burner, Williams’ reliably complex composition surely will tickle the fancy of some AC programmers.”

In June 1997, the soundtrack to the franchise’s second blockbuster, The Lost World: Jurassic Park, hit No. 88 on the Billboard 200.

The soundtrack to Jurassic World hit No. 126 on the Billboard 200 in June 2015. It also reached No. 6 on the Soundtracks chart and No. 7 on Independent Albums.

In June 2018, the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom soundtrack peaked at No. 39 on Independent Albums.

The original Jurassic Park soundtrack has sold 904,000 copies in the United States through July 3, according to Luminate. Williams’ “Theme From Jurassic Park” has sold 286,000 downloads. The soundtrack’s songs have drawn 149 million official U.S. streams to date.

The soundtrack to The Lost World: Jurassic Park is the franchise’s second-best-selling album, with 104,000 copies sold in the U.S.

On July 2, the soundtrack to Jurassic World Rebirth was released, featuring 34 tracks by composer Alexandre Desplat; his soundtrack to Godzilla hit the Billboard 200 in 2014. The first full tracking week for the Jurassic World Rebirth soundtrack will be reflected on (hold onto your butts) next week’s charts, dated July 19.
