Reacher met the Bidens.
In a crossover that no one saw coming, the Reacher set got a surprise visit from President Joe Biden and his son, Hunter Biden, in Philadelphia on Monday. Series star Alan Ritchson took to Instagram today to share a series of images from the impromptu meet-and-greet. “So our Reacher set got in the way of these legends,” posted the star of Amazon Prime Video’s blockbuster series. “Was a privilege and honor to meet the Biden family. They couldn’t have been more lovely. Kind, joyful, gracious and present.”
According to local news outlets, it was a chance encounter. The Bidens were captured on camera “casually strolling” around the city’s Rittenhouse Square after having breakfast at a restaurant called Parc. As luck would have it, Reacher was reportedly filming an episode outside the same venue, Philly’s take on a beloved French bistro located at 227 S. 18th St.
“It was just something very bizarre that I never could have imagined, both things were happening at the same time,” photographer Hugh E. Dillon told the local CBS affiliate. Dillon reported that he was watching the Reacher crew film a police chase when a black SUV happened to pull up to the scene. “Out walked these men, that I thought they were actors, but then the entire cast and crew started clapping and cheering. Then someone said, ‘We love you, Joe, we love you!’”
Images from the scene show Ritchson filming outside on the sidewalk with a host of extras. He must’ve broken away from the action to say hello to the Bidens, as his photos show an animated scene inside when he came face-to-face with the former president.
“We chatted briefly about simple stuff, like string theory and quantum entanglement. Then Joe beat me at arm wrestling. All in a day’s work,” Ritchson shared with his 4.2 million Instagram followers.
News of the surprise meet-and-greet comes just five days after Ritchson took to Instagram to reveal that season four of Reacher would be based on Lee Child’s book Gone Tomorrow. With cameras now rolling, the novel adaptation will find Reacher in New York City past midnight on a subway car heading uptown. When one of the passengers, a woman named Susan Mark, dies suddenly, Reacher plunges headfirst into an investigation to find out what happened when his gut tells him that it was more than just a random passing.
