Ariana Grande Shares AOC’s Call to Impeach Donald Trump

Ariana Grande is sharing her “pov” on Donald Trump by echoing Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The pop star reshared a message the New York congresswoman posted on X over the weekend calling for the president’s impeachment.

The screenshot of the Bronx native’s message appeared on the two-time Grammy winner’s Instagram Stories early Sunday (June 22) without additional commentary. AOC’s message, which was posted a day earlier on X, read: “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. He has impulsively risked launching a war that may ensnare us for generations. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.”

The call for impeachment comes after the U.S. launched missile strikes Saturday (June 22) against three of Iran’s nuclear sites. Trump — who was impeached twice during his first term — claimed that the bombings “totally obliterated” the sites and that the mission was a “spectacular military success.” After the attack, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iran “reserves all options” in its response.

Grande — who received a best supporting actress Oscar nomination for her portrayal of Wicked‘s Glinda — has been open about not supporting Trump. After Hillary Clinton’s loss to him in the 2016 election, the singer-actress shared a message of support and hope. “Let’s please be active and vocal every day toward making each other feel accepted and loved for our differences. not just on election day. please,” the star wrote. “it’s the only way we will be able to get through what could possibly be a very dark few years.”

Two years later, when she released her “Thank U, Next” music video, it included a subtle dig at the president in the form of a book — Immigration and Refugee Law and Policy, to be exact. In the visual, the singer is reading the casebook, which her mom, Joan, confirmed on Twitter was a comment against Trump. “she is a most passionate advocate for humanity,” Joan wrote about the singer, who has long been an outspoken LGBTQ+ ally.

And after the mogul-turned-politician signed an executive order his first day back in office in January, stating that the U.S. would recognize only the male and female sexes, Grande again shared her support for the LGBTQ+ community. She reshared statements from the Advocates for Trans Equality, which included the message “No matter what comes, we will protect each other.”
