Digital payments firm PayU Payments has strengtheded its board of directors with three new appointments after receiving the final authorisation from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as a payment aggregator.The company has named Subhash Mundra, former Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India; and Manoj Kumar Agarwal, Co-founder and President of AI startup DevRev, as non-executive independent directors. India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI) continues to solidify its position as the backbone of the country’s digital economy, accounting for a staggering 84% of total retail payments in the fiscal year 2024–25, according to the Reserve Bank of India’s latest annual report.The real-time payments system handled a significant increase in both usage and value.
