“The whole dancing in the streets and jazz in the bar thing was ridiculous, but that’s not what put me off from that movie. It’s not the drama that put me off either; I’ve been a Spider-Man comic book reader since childhood, so I know romance and drama is a big and important part in the Spider-Man mythos. The thing is, the hype created by the trailers and promotional posters, sites, etc. was promising a much darker and action-packed movie. The trailers were all moody and eerie, with the whole Aunt May speech about revenge and the scenes of Peter desperately…
The studio behind SWAT — and the show’s lead actor — are taking another shot at keeping the franchise going. Sony Pictures Television has greenlit a spinoff of the crime procedural titled SWAT Exiles. Like the recently ended CBS series, Exiles will star Shemar Moore, reprising his role as Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson as he works with a team of young recruits. Sony will also distribute the series worldwide and will shop it to potential buyers in the near future. The studio made the announcement Sunday evening at its annual L.A. Screenings event. “We are thrilled to usher this beloved franchise into a…

“The game is the vision,” production designer John Paino told E! News, referring to the 2013 PlayStation title that HBO’s The Last of Us is adapted from. “The concept art for the game always looked cinematic. It had a sense of place and lighting and realism to it.” But, as movie-like as it looked, it was still a game. The job of Paino, set decorator Paul Healy and hundreds of other craftspeople was to build tangible versions of the game’s dueling worlds: The not-so-distant-but-subtly-retro 2003, and the frozen-in-time version of that same year, two decades after life as people knew it imploded. “The biggest challenge was just working in…
Note: This episode contains spoilers for The Last of Us season two episode six. Pedro Pascal‘s return to HBO’s The Last of Us in a flashback-filled episode packed an emotional wallop, filling in several blanks in Joel and Ellie’s (Bella Ramsey) tumultuous relationship. Starting with a look at Joel’s abused childhood, a series of sequences followed, set during Ellie’s birthdays — since the duo settled in Jackson — and showing what went down on the porch the night before Joel’s murder. The scenes throw all sorts of complex lighting into previous events, but perhaps most simply, they remind the audience…

Caleb Moore never thought he’d release “Comeback Kid.” But in a warmly-lit townhouse above a clothing store in Manhattan Friday (May 16), a crowd cheered and whistled so loudly for the song’s music video that applause for that night’s historic Knicks victory, hours later, paled in comparison. The “Comeback Kid” video release party on the second floor of Lingua Franca felt like summertime’s grand entrance, complete with chilled wine and beers, smoke breaks on the balcony, live music and a movie projector for the main event. A crowd of about 50 close friends, family and industry colleagues — including actor…

Ankit Chona remembers feeling uncertain at the start of his new venture—not because he feared failure, but because he was stepping into an industry where he was already known. “I was very nervous,” he says, reflecting on his decision to return to the ice cream segment after selling Havmor, a legacy ice cream brand, to South Korea’s Lotte in 2017.The idea for Hocco emerged organically. “At our restaurants, we were serving other people’s ice cream. One day, we just thought—why not make our own?” he recalls. What began as a small, in-house operation supplying the family’s restaurants gradually evolved into a…
