It’s 2025 — What would Cher Horowitz be doing? L’Ermitage Beverly Hills has dreamed up a home away from home for the Bronson Alcott High School alum with a chic new suite for Clueless‘ 30th anniversary.

Film fans might imagine the Beverly Hills-bred icon (played by Alicia Silverstone) kicking off her heels after jet-setting around the world for her career as an environmental lawyer or a fashion exec. And starting on Saturday, stylish movie buffs can book a stay at the 4,450-square-foot Clueless Suite ($2,080/night) and live in the iconic film’s world for two nights or more.

The hotel teamed with Paramount Pictures and interior designer Jordan Hackworth to dream up the luxurious space, while original costume designer Monay May curated the closet with designer pieces from Bloomingdale’s. The suite features a yellow plaid accent wall modeled after Cher’s iconic Jean Paul Gaultier look, Lichtenstein-inspired wall art, a pink neon “Carpe diem! Okay?” sign, Schlossberg blush silk bedding and an installation by Emmy-winning costume designer Marco Marco. A Cher’mitage Experience add-on ($995/night) allows guests to capture memories with a Polaroid camera, enjoy a VIP in-store styling appointment and $100 to spend at Bloomingdale’s and indulge in a Dior Beauty glam session, among other amenities.

“It’s just bright and happy as Cher would love it,” May tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The moment you walk in there you are transformed into the world of Clueless.”

May reflected on Clueless‘ enduring influence on fashion, culture and film while prepping the suite’s Cher-inspired closet, which will also be available to see and shop on Fitted, the official virtual closet app for the film’s 30th anniversary campaign. The award-winning costume designer will release The Fashion of Clueless (Simon & Schuster) in Oct. 7, now available for preorder on Amazon, Bookshop and other retailers.

“It’s so rewarding, Iggy Azalea, Kim Kardashian — who was wearing the costume with her daughter — and Taylor Swift were inspired by the yellow plaid outfit. And Harry Styles! The legacy just lives on,” May says. “To connect 30 years later, be here for the fans, express this feeling and be nostalgic of the times but also enjoy the happiness, the exuberance. It had some kind of innocence that we maybe craved. There were no cell phones, Instagram wasn’t ruling our lives.”

“I didn’t have a big budget — $200,000, which is nothing! That’s why maybe the movie was so great,” adds May. “It was all art; [brands weren’t] shipping us [clothing], I had to go to thrift store stores. Imagine, just Alicia herself has 63 changes. Then you have Deon, Amber. Every extra lined up — the quad, all the different cliques, the cafeteria, it was incredible to design thousands of looks.”

Clueless Suite guests feel like they’re stepping into the movie’s world with other easter eggs throughout the space, such as framed photos of Josh (played by Paul Rudd) and Cher’s glamorous mom (who died as a result of “a freak accident during routine liposuction,” the character recalls in the film), a framed class schedule, open makeup on the vanity and clothing draped on an accent chair, seemingly just as Cher might have left it, notes May.

“We kind of made it a little messy,” she says of the fashion picks throughout the room. “It’s really an incredible feeling to witness this phenomenon, this movie lives in the zeitgeist, there’s so much positive emotion connected to this film. It just makes my soul sing; any of us who work in the business, you just never know. The movie also came out when girls were ready to have some fun with color, all the elements came together.”

Inspired by Jane Austen’s novel, Emma, Clueless was written and directed by Amy Heckerling and earned $56.7 million worldwide after it was released in July 1995. In addition to Silverstone and Rudd, the film starred Stacey Dash, the late Brittany Murphy, Elise Donovan, Donald Faison, Breckin Meyer and others. The film is available to stream on Paramount+ (currently offering a deal for new subscribers) or to buy on sale at Prime Video.

“Amy is a brilliant writer and director,” reminisces the 63-year-old costume designer. “She really wrote this very in-depth story about these beautiful girls and their friendship. Cher was really a girl’s girl. I’m so lucky I get to do a lot of female-driven moves, to me it’s so important to bring that femininity.

When we did the movie, we were so young. That was my big studio picture, we were kind of big-eyed kids, thrown into this amazing creative process with Amy, she knew exactly how and what she wanted. She opened us as artists. I owe her so much, she allowed my Pandora’s box to open. … We met on the [film’s] pilot, but we knew that we were creative soulmates, I could bring something timeless.”

As for May’s forthcoming book, expect Clueless stars to walk down memory lane, including Silverstone, Rudd, Meyer and Faison. “It’s so cool because we actually found, 30 years later, the Polaroid from set continuity,” she says.

The Clueless Suite at the L’Ermitage Beverly Hills is available to book from July 12 to Sept. 1 for $2,080 per night (two-night minimum) and the Cher’mitage Experience is available for $995 per night; learn more here.
