Eternal on Sunday announced the appointment of Aditya Mangla as the CEO of its food delivery business, Zomato, replacing Rakesh Ranjan.

“Rakesh Ranjan has successfully completed his 2-year stint as the CEO-Food ordering and delivery business. Accordingly, he shall cease to be designated as a Senior Management Personnel (with effect from July 6, 2025,” stated the exchange filing.

Mangla, who has been with the company for over four years, is currently the head of product for its food delivery arm. In his previous roles, he was also heading supply and customer experience for the food delivery business.

These developments come after Deepinder Goyal took on the mandate of its slowing food delivery business in May earlier this year. The move was cited to be a part of an internal leadership reshuffle at Eternal, which follows a model of rotational leadership. Eternal said that Goyal’s appointment comes as it looks to “get a fresh perspective into the business” amid the slow performance of its food delivery business.

Zomato, Eternal’s largest segment, clocked an 18% YoY growth in topline to Rs 2,054 crore during the January-March 2025 quarter. On a QoQ basis, the segment showed a marginal decline, dragged down by a broader slowdown in urban consumption. The segment clocked slower GOV growth during the last financial year consistently falling from 28% in Q4 FY24 to 16% in Q4 FY25.

The Deepinder Goyal-led company cited sluggish demand due to lower discretionary spending and a shortage of delivery partners due to heightened requirements of quick commerce operations, among key reasons.

The company also highlighted growing competition for consumer food delivery as quick commerce platforms ramp up quick delivery of packaged foods.
