Arnold Schwarzenegger channels Wednesday Addams in the first trailer for FUBAR season two.
The action comedy trailer (below) has a surprising amount of dancing as Schwarzenegger gets seductive with newcomer to the series Carrie-Anne Moss. The season also brings back Monica Barbaro — fresh off her Oscar nomination for A Complete Unknown — as Schwarzenegger’s spy dad’s daughter.
The official description of the new episodes: “Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission in saving another operative — who just so happened to be his daughter (Barbaro) — he’s back and face to face with new villains. This one is an old flame from Luke’s past (Moss) who threatens to destroy the world … if she doesn’t destroy his life first.”
FUBAR season two premieres on Netflix globally on June 12, timed to Father’s Day weekend.
The second season cast also includes Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris and Scott Thompson.
The series is executive produced by Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen and Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Matt Thunell.
During a 2023 Hollywood Reporter cover story, Schwarzenegger discussed the series and some of the ways his character’s infidelity backstory intersected with his real-life divorce from Maria Shriver.
“David Ellison came to me with the idea of a TV show. I said, ‘It has to be something where I can use all my aspects and talents. It has to be fun. It has to be action-packed. It has to be sweet. And we shouldn’t try to get around my age — let’s play my age.’ He came up with the idea of doing a True Lies-type thing,” he said. “We were laughing about [the similarities] — it feels like it’s a documentary. The difference is, in the show, he doesn’t consider it cheating because [seducing CIA assets] was part of his profession. His wife moved on because he never was home, and now he has this dilemma with the daughter because she has the same job and it’s going to screw up her relationship, too. But in [my real-life marriage to Shriver], it was my fuckup. It was my failure. Also, in the show, he’s deep down still in love with his wife.”
