India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, the country’s flagship telecom and digital technology event, is set to return for its 9th edition from October 8 to 11 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. This year’s theme will be “Innovate to Transform.”

Organised jointly by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC has evolved into Asia’s largest forum for digital technology and connectivity. This year’s edition is expected to surpass previous records, with over 1.5 lakh visitors from 150+ countries, more than 7,000 global delegates, and upwards of 400 exhibitors and partners.

“The success of IMC over the last 8 years is not just measured in numbers but in the impact it has created on industries, communities and the nation at large,” said Abhijit Kishore, Chairman, COAI. “It has become an active platform for knowledge sharing and thought leadership, becoming the largest digital technology forum in Asia.”

The conference will feature over 100 sessions and 800+ speakers covering cutting-edge sectors including 5G, 6G, artificial intelligence, IoT, electronics manufacturing, and green technologies. More than 1,000 real-world use cases are slated to be showcased.

This year, IMC will see the expansion of ASPIRE, the startup-focused initiative introduced in 2023. THe event will feature over 500 startups and will facilitate connections with more than 300 investors, incubators, accelerators, and venture capital firms. The programme is designed to provide live pitching opportunities, mentorship, and deep networking to help drive India’s innovation pipeline.

“Our dream is that IMC will not only remain a preserve of telecom technologies, but will bring all other horizontal tech under its wings,” said Dr Neeraj Mittal, Chairman DCC & Secretary (T), DoT.

Emphasising India’s progress across generational shifts in telecom, he said: “We were laggards in 4G, we were in stride with the world in 5G and we will be ahead in 6G and that is the dream all of us will like to see fulfilled.”

IMC 2025 comes amid India’s efforts to build self-reliant digital infrastructure. “In a period of 22 months, we produced the first domestic 4G stack for the world—and India has become the 5th country in the world to produce its own telco stack,” said Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia at the theme launch on Monday. “DSS—Design, Solve and Scale—has to be our chemical formula in this journey,” he said.

To support future talent and public engagement, the DoT also announced the Sanchar Mitra Scheme, which aims to mobilise youth as digital ambassadors and create exposure to telecom innovations and DoT initiatives.

Additionally, the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Telecom Excellence Awards 2024 were announced, recognising contributions across telecom innovations, skilling, services, and manufacturing. This year’s awardees included Parag Naik of Sankhya Labs, Niral Networks, Lekha Wireless, Prof. CR Murthy of IISC Bengaluru, and C-DOT for its Cell Broadcasting Solution.
