Joel McHale Reveals He’s Gotten 4 Hair Transplants

Joel McHale is getting candid about his hair journey.

And for the Community alum, that’s included undergoing several cosmetic procedures to keep his blonde locks intact.

“Yeah, I’m fully bald,” he told We Might Be Drunk podcast hosts Mark Normand and Sam Morril on the June 16 episode. “This is four transplants.”

“I did it way back when it was a strip,” Joel explained, referring to the hair transplant method that involves removing a strip of scalp. “Painful. Don’t do a strip.”

Looking back on his own transplant procedures, he had one major recommendation for those interested in trying for themselves: go with the less-painful alternative.

“Do plucking,” he emphasized. “Now they pluck it from the whole back section, and it’s a miracle.”

Joel further noted that despite Turkey being a popular place to get the procedure done due to the lower costs, he stayed in Los Angeles for his own hair transplants, though he noted he spent $10,000 and admitted the price “might have gone up.”

“I can get you a name of a guy in Turkey,” he quipped, before noting, “But just make sure, because if somebody is like, ‘I’ll do it for $3,000,’ then you don’t.”

As he stressed, “You get what you pay for.”
