Justin Bieber Addresses His Trauma and Asks for Respect, Boundaries

The Biebs is setting his boundaries.

Justin Bieber recently posted a personal text exchange on Instagram between him and someone unnamed that he’s cut ties with, saying his former friend doesn’t understand where his “anger” comes from.

“I will never suppress my emotions for someone. Conflict is a part of relationship. If you don’t like my anger you don’t like me,” he wrote. “My anger is a response to pain I have been through. Asking a traumatized person not to be traumatized is simply mean.”

The recipient replied: “I’m not used to someone lashing out at me. It’s not that I don’t see and feel your anger,” to which Bieber responded: “Ouch. This friendship is officially over. I will never accept a man calling my anger lashing out. I enjoyed our short lived relationship. I wasn’t kidding when I told you I didn’t need you as a friend. I have good friends. Who will respect these boundaries.”

Then, the “What Do You Mean?” singer told the person to leave him alone and that he was blocking him.

The next day, Bieber posted a statement on Instagram which said, in part: “People keep telling me to heal. Don’t you think if I could have fixed myself I would have already? I know I’m broken. I know I have anger issues. I tried to do the work my whole life to be like the people told me I needed to be fixed like them. And it just keeps making me more tired and more angry. The harder I try to grow, the more focused on myself I am. Jesus is the only person who keeps me wanting to make my life about others.”

The posts come after his unusual behavior on social media as of late, like when he went live on Instagram rapping to a song with gaunt eyes a few months ago, leading to fans becoming concerned.

On Thursday, just three days before Father’s Day, the Grammy winner was harassed — again — by paparazzi. In a video that’s now gone viral, the photographers were surrounding his car. Bieber repeatedly told them to “get out of my face” and “stop asking me how it’s going.” After they said “Happy Father’s Day” to Bieber and continued to take photos and stay on his property, he said: “I’m a real dad with a real family. And you’re really in front of my face.”

“I’m just demanding respect. You confuse my anger with disrespect. It’s anger because you’re disrespecting me you don’t get to disrespect me and get away with it,” he continued. “You don’t get to force questions in people’s face and take videos out of context and use it against people, that’s mean.”

The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to Bieber’s reps for comment.
