Commenters in the subreddit immediately called out the mother-in-law for saying something so insensitive to her daughter-in-law.

My sister used to come by and hold my baby (in the bathroom while I showered, so she could see me) a few times a week. The fact that your mom is crass enough to comment and lacks any sense of empathy or understanding is wild. Good for you for standing up for your wife.”
User u/missdeb99912 added, “Your mom was out of line. You need to talk to your mom and tell her how wildly inappropriate, unkind, and mean that comment was. You need to demand that she sincerely apologize for her behavior.”
