Cloud‑kitchen operator has named co‑founder Ankush Grover as its new global chief executive officer, effective immediately. Outgoing CEO and Co-founder Jaydeep Barman will assume the role of chairman, overseeing the broader strategic direction of the business.
“We are pleased to announce a leadership transition at Rebel Foods. Ankush Grover, Co-founder and previously CEO – India, has been elevated to Global CEO of Rebel Foods. Over the years, Ankush has played a pivotal role in building Rebel from the ground up and scaling it across markets. In his expanded role, all core functions—including technology, finance, marketing, and human resources—will now report directly to him,” said a Rebel Foods spokesperson.
Grover, who joined the company 13 years ago, most recently led the company’s India and MENA (Middle East and North Africa) operations. In his elevated role, he will steer the business as it pursues further international expansion.
Founded in 2011 by Jaydeep Barman and Kallol Banerjee, Rebel Foods’ portfolio includes Faasos, Behrouz Biryani, Oven Story Pizza, Lunchbox, The Good Bowl, Sweet Truth and Wendy’s.
In December, the firm closed a $210-million Series G round led by Temasek, with participation from Evolvence, and provided exits for a few existing investors. The company, which competes with players such as Curefoods and FreshMenu, currently operates over 450 kitchens across more than 70 Indian cities and is extending its footprint into the UAE and the UK.
