AI impersonator posing as US Secretary of State targets foreign ministers: Report
An individual using an AI-generated voice to impersonate US Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacted three foreign ministers and two US officials last month, Reuters said in a report.
It added that the impersonator reached out via the Signal messaging app, leaving voicemails and inviting targets to continue communication on the encrypted platform. Read more.

Varthana Finance raises Rs 159 Cr debt
Varthana Finance, an education-focused non-banking financial company (NBFC), raised Rs 159 crore in debt funding from three global impact investors, BlueEarth Capital, ResponsAbility, and Franklin Templeton Alternative Investments (Franklin Templeton AIF).
It secured the funds through a combination of external commercial borrowing (ECB) and non-convertible debentures (NCD), and includes Rs 69 crore from Switzerland-based BlueEarth Capital (via ECB), Rs 65 crore from ResponsAbility (via NCD), and Rs 25 crore from Franklin Templeton AIF (via NCD). Belong, a fintech startup targeting the Non-Resident Indian (NRI) market, raised $5 million in a seed funding round led by Elevation Capital, marking its official launch.

Green Aero raises $1.6M led by pi Ventures
Green Aero, a deeptech startup developing next-generation aero engines for defence and civilian applications, raised $1.6 million in seed funding led by pi Ventures and Antler.
The funds will support product development and testing, team expansion in engineering and operations, the setup of a testing facility, and the go-to-market strategy for the company’s first engine.
Green Aero, founded in 2023 by Prithwish Kundu, develops next-generation aero engines for the defence sector and hydrogen-based propulsion systems aimed at reducing emissions in aviation and shipping.
The company is working on indigenous engines through advanced research and development. It plans to commercialise its first small-category engine within the next 12 months while preparing for the development of a larger engine platform.
Avis Hospital bags $2.5M in growth capital from NABVENTURES
Avis Hospital, a speciality centre focused on the treatment of varicose veins, secured $2.5 million in growth capital from NABVENTURES, the venture capital arm of NABARD.
The investment was facilitated by Equity 360, a boutique private market investment banking firm led by Sumeet Seraf.
The capital will support Avis Hospital’s expansion into over 15 Tier II and III cities, enhancing its ability to provide specialised care to underserved communities. The hospital also plans to invest in technology-led diagnostics and establish mobile screening camps to identify and treat patients in remote rural areas.
Enercomp Solutions raises Rs 2 Cr in bridge round
Dronetech startup Enercomp Solutions raised Rs 2 crore in a bridge funding round from angel investors to expand manufacturing capacity, invest in advanced drone operating systems, and strengthen its ability to deliver large-scale national projects.
Enercomp raised Rs 6.9 crore in earlier rounds, with its valuation rising to Rs 60 crore. The capital will also support product innovation, operational growth, and the development of its AI-powered drone software.
Ahmedabad-based Enercomp specialises in indigenous drone manufacturing, drone-as-a-service solutions, and GIS-based data analytics. With a portfolio of seven proprietary drone models, it serves clients in infrastructure, agriculture, energy, and government sectors.

Tata Technologies and Emerson partner to develop testing solutions for OEMs
Tata Technologies and Emerson have partnered to develop integrated testing and validation solutions for global OEMs in the automotive, aerospace, and commercial vehicle sectors.
The partnership combines Tata Technologies’ expertise in systems engineering, E/E architecture, and mobility platform development with Emerson’s software-connected test and measurement solutions.
It aims to help manufacturers address the challenges of next-generation mobility by enabling faster, more efficient validation of software-defined, connected, electric, and autonomous vehicles, reducing development time and costs.

Unicommerce expands into the B2B segment
Ecommerce enablement SaaS platform Unicommerce entered the B2B segment with a new set of solutions designed to improve the efficiency and speed of business-to-business operations.
The tools aim to enhance fulfilment processes for retail replenishment, quick commerce, general and modern trade, and other B2B orders for ecommerce brands and online sellers.
The B2B suite is designed to help businesses manage orders with greater speed and accuracy. Its Unified B2B Order Management System automates purchase order creation from PDF, image or Excel files, supports complex orders with over 1,000 SKUs, tracks inventory expiry, and enables real-time edits and prioritisation.
Integrated with a bulk-focused Warehouse Management System, it allows re-routing of orders between warehouses, dynamic stock reallocation, scan-based packing and automated returns handling. HERE and Genesys International partner to improve road safety
HERE Technologies, a global provider of digital mapping and location data, and Genesys International, an Indian geospatial solutions company, partnered to enhance in-car navigation and improve road safety across India.
The duo are developing a next-generation in-car navigation system aimed at reducing distracted driving. It will offer Indian drivers a seamless digital cockpit experience with live maps, real-time traffic updates, road hazard alerts from HERE, and integrated ADAS features from Genesys.
Powered by AI, HERE’s mapping system offers real-time updates on road conditions, speed limits, traffic, EV routes, and charging stations, providing precise, context-aware guidance for drivers.

WSAI at IIT Madras partners with Lloyds Technology Centre

Zscaler extends Zero Trust platform
Zscaler has launched Zscaler Cellular, extending its AI-powered Zero Trust Exchange platform. This solution enables Zero Trust communication for IoT and OT devices using only a cellular SIM card, removing the need for extra software or VPNs.
It offers resilient global connectivity by automatically connecting devices to any cellular network and isolates each device on a private network, with all traffic securely routed through the Zscaler platform.
Paisabazaar launches Credit Premier League
Paisabazaar, a consumer credit marketplace and free credit score platform, launched the Paisabazaar Credit Premier League, a nationwide contest to identify India’s most credit-healthy consumers.
