Food delivery and quick commerce major, Swiggy, on Tuesday said it has promoted Saurav Goyal to the role of SVP and Head-Driver & Delivery Org for Swiggy.
Goyal, who has been at the consumer tech platform for over half a decade, previously handled business finance as vice-president and senior vice-president. In his new role, Saurav is expected to lead its initiative for delivery partners.
In his previous stints, Goyal was at Ola Consumer, Flipkart and Tata Communications in business finance roles.
“While I’ll still be leading Business Finance for a bit, my energy is now shifting to the heart of Swiggy’s mission to elevate the quality of life for the urban consumer by offering unparalleled convenience : our amazing delivery partners. They’re the backbone of our reliability and reach,” Goyal shared in a post on LinkedIn.
Goyal will also lead Business Finance until a replacement is appointed.
Last month, Swiggy appointed Flipkart exec Ankit Jain as Senior Vice President of Operations. In his previous stint at Flipkart, Jain was was responsible for the platform’s end-to-end grocery operations and large supply chain, including designing Flipkart’s quick commerce arm Minutes’s supply chain.
Goyal’s appointment comes as competition in the quick commerce sector heats up, with players fighting for consumers’ wallet share, dark store locations, and hyper-local fleet.
