Ticket Exchange Platform Tixel Expands to U.S.

Australian face value ticket exchange platform Tixel is officially launching in the United States, where it has signed new partners including Burning Man Project, FNGRS CRSSD, Under the Big Sky and Vermont venue Higher Ground, the company announced Monday (June 23).

Also announced as partners in the U.S. are primary ticketing platforms Eventbrite, Leap Event Technology and Prekindle. They all join an existing roster of major venues, promoters and artists in other regions, including Superstruct Entertainment UK and the Formula 1 Australian Grand Prix.

Tixel enables the safe buying and selling of resale tickets with prices automatically capped based on the original ticket purchase price.

“Buying a resale ticket in the U.S. is often synonymous with paying two, three or four times the original purchase price,” said Tixel founder and CEO Zac Leigh in a statement. “Scalpers and brokers skim the profit and the fan, artist and promoter lose. It doesn’t have to be this way. With Tixel’s entry to the market there is now a safe and fair place for fans in the U.S. to exchange tickets to any kind of event without fear of spec listings, fake tickets, or having to pay way too much simply because they missed out in the initial onsale.”

On Tixel, fans are able to see transparent pricing and instantly buy available tickets for sold-out shows; they can also join a Tixel waitlist that alerts them to tickets as they’re listed, including a set-and-forget option to auto-purchase. It also offers tools and data-sharing for promoters and ticketers designed to help sell more tickets, reduce no-shows and increase marketing capabilities.

Tixel was launched in Australia in 2018 in response to rampant ticket scalping and fraud issues. The company says it has helped millions of fans trade tickets and, in 2024 alone, saw tickets exchanged on more than 14,000 events around the world.
