US-based Uber has rolled out a slew of rider-focused features for India, amidst growth and intense competition in the ride-hailing segment from local players like Rapido in one of its fastest-growing markets.
The ride-hailing major has introduced three new features to make rides on its platform more affordable for price-sensitive riders. These features include rides at lower fares in exchange for slightly longer waiting time and metro ticket booking on the Uber app, which has been rolled out in Delhi and is set to expand to Chennai and Mumbai.
Lastly, a price lock feature—due to launch in December this year—will help riders lock in fares for their most frequent routes by paying a small upfront fee, instead of paying dynamic fares during peak hours or heavy traffic.
Uber has also introduced new features to make it more accessible through Uber for Seniors, which is launching this month. Under this feature, senior adults can experience a simplified app interface with larger buttons, fewer booking steps, and real-time trip tracking for families.

The ride-hailing company has also launched Courier XL, through which users can send large parcels up to 750 kgs, and Uber Pet, which provides pet-friendly transport options.
Additionally, the company is introducing premium services on daily travel options such as airport priority access. The feature—already live in Pune and Hyderabad—allows riders to step directly from the terminal into their waiting Uber cabs. It will also be rolled out in Mumbai, followed by India’s newest greenfield airport in Noida.
Uber has also launched Uber XL Plus—already operational in Bengaluru, Chennai, and Hyderabad—which guarantees larger cars for when travelling in a bigger group.
