Thank goodness Mary-Kate Olsen and and Ashley Olsen had those passports to Paris.
Because after opening brick-and-mortar stores for their luxury brand The Row in New York City, Long Island, Los Angeles and London, they finally said “oui” to a Paris location after a years-long search.
“We wanted to be in Paris before we opened in London, but we didn’t find anything here first,” Ashley revealed to Vogue in September 2024. “Then, 18 months ago, a friend told us about this place.”
And while Ashley acknowledged the former restaurant “may not be the most obvious place to be in Paris,” they’d scoured pretty much every major street in the City of Light and, added Ashley, “we’re very happy here.”
Though they’re very transparent about the potential hiccups in opening a new store—”Having so many windows is amazing, but also a challenge. Because Ashley and I don’t like putting anything in our windows,” Mary-Kate noted—they’re ready to create a new space.
“You need to be very agile, and to make adjustments,” Ashley said of the process, “so opening the doors and learning one day at a time … that’s very us.”
