Why Sabrina Carpenter Might Consider Banning Phones at Her Concerts

Sabrina Carpenter fans might want to capture as many memories from her concerts while they still can.

Though the Grammy winner is used to looking out into a crowd of people and cell phones, she recently told Rolling Stone that she’s open to the idea of banning phones at her concerts in the future.

“This will honestly piss off my fans, but absolutely,” the “Please Please Please” artist said. “Because I went to see Silk Sonic in Vegas, and they locked my phone. I’ve never had a better experience at a concert. I genuinely felt like I was back in the Seventies — wasn’t alive. Genuinely felt like I was there. Everyone’s singing, dancing, looking at each other and laughing. It really, really just felt so beautiful.”

While the “Manchild” singer said she can’t “blame people for wanting to have memories” from her shows, she quipped that she also doesn’t want fans to “zoom in on me when I’m 80 years old up there.”

“I’ve grown up in the age of people having iPhones at shows. It unfortunately feels super normal to me,” she added. “But depending on how long I want to be touring, and what age I am, girl, take those phones away. You cannot zoom in on my face. Right now, my skin is soft and supple. It’s fine.”

If Carpenter does go through with prohibiting phones during her gigs, she would join other artists who have done it in the past, including Bob Dylan, Adele and Madonna.

After reaching a new level of fame last year amid the release of her album, Short n’ Sweet, the singer just scored her second No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Manchild.” Carpenter is also set to release her next studio album, Man’s Best Friend, in August.
